Independent racking inspections is there such a thing?

I just want to take a minute to clarify a few points of contention that have been floating around the racking industry lately. I can’t speak for every SARI out there, only for myself personally. If I do an inspection for a company that sells racking products, then I will pass them a copy of the report upon completion so they can carry out any recommended repairs as directed by their customer.

Under no circumstances would I undertake to quote a customer for repairs if I have been hired by a third party racking supplier. It doesn’t make sense! Racking Inspectors rely on Racking Companies to help highlight the importance for warehouse safety, especially when there are people carrying out inspections who aren’t SEMA approved. We all have a duty of care to make sure our customers know that an inspection carried out by a non SEMA approved person is not an inspection which satisfies any legal requirements.
